Before living in Plymouth I had absolutely no interest in architecture. After a year of living there I began to find the expanses of cool grey concrete and the general melancholy of the city to be an incredible inspiration. The post war architectural story of the city is fascinating. The architects of the city dreamed of creating a social utopia, functional design would allow for the true independence and happiness of it’s inhabitants. Car Parks feature heavily in my work from Plymouth, their emptiness points towards the unfortunate economical failure involved in the great Plan for Plymouth.
