Traditional photographic processes are diminishing in popularity, the commercial appeal of film photography is almost completely gone. Whilst working at the chemist I had always been pleased that the particular company that I worked for had sworn to remain the last commercially available source of film processing on the high street. Unfortunately they made the decision to close 320 film processing labs across the country. I had the displeasure of watching the lab being removed from the store. I completely understand why film photography has lost it’s commercial edge but it is still sad to see a medium with such massive quantities of untapped potential being made redundant. Working in the lab was often a pleasure, I am pleased that I have had the chance to do so. The images show how bizarrely outdated and entrenched in habit the lab had become just before closing.
